About Us
Articles of Faith
  • We believe in one God, the Sovereign Creator of all mankind.
  • We believe in the Virgin birth, death by crucifixion, and bodily resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
  • We believe in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
  • We believe in the New Birth as the means of entering into the Kingdom of God.
  • We believe that the scriptures are the infallible, inspired Word of God.
  • We believe in the Lord's Supper or Holy Communion, and water baptism as the ordinances practiced by the church.
  • We believe in one definite work of grace, the saving of the soul, one Lord, one faith, and one baptism, but many fillings of the Holy Spirit, and that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin.
  • We believe in the eternal existence of the soul.
  • We believe a person is saved by grace and that a saved person will bring forth fruit produced by the Holy Spirit and the individual is kept by the power of the Holy Ghost.
  • We believe that once a person is saved, he must work out his own salvation with fear and trembling, and that he may through his own waywardness and neglect, fall from grace and fellowship with God.
  • We believe in the Holy Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost.

Our Story
Honoring Faith, Family, and Legacy
The roots of Fisher Memorial Church trace back to 1929, when the Fisher family began gathering for an annual reunion on the fourth Sunday in August. These early gatherings were held at various locations until 1938, when the group chose a meaningful site: the old Dudden School grounds at the fork of Dudden and Fisher Ridge Roads. This location became the home for not only the reunion but also an annual fall revival.

In September 1942, inspired by a shared desire to honor the memory of Leonard G. and Hannah Fisher, a group of family members and friends came together to dream bigger. That day, they began planning a church that would serve future generations. The founding group included:

Ed Fisher, Marco Garnes, Parvin Cunningham, Corbett Fisher, Hobson Fisher, R. L. (Bob) Fisher, W. O. Fisher, and Roy Pfost.

Thanks to a generous land donation from R. L. (Bob) Fisher (recorded in Deed Book 122, Page 181), construction of the church began that fall. Just a few months later, in January 1943, the first worship service was held — marking the official beginning of Fisher Memorial Church.

A Legacy That Lives On

From a family gathering to a thriving community of faith, Fisher Memorial Church was built on the love of God, the strength of family, and a heart for service. We continue to honor that legacy as we grow, worship, and serve together today. We are a Board and Pastor led church, governed by a group of Trustees, based on the original foundations established for Fisher Memorial Church.

Trustees: John Paul Boggess, Jerry Miller and Richard Lathey

Board of Directors: Jay Carnell (Chair), Jo Chenoweth, Jim Laine, Robert Newton, Brent Samples, Donna Leaptrot and Candie Bowles
